Love it or Leave it: Ombre Lips!

This year, we have seen the Ombré look all over the runways, whether it is hair, clothing, and accessories. Now, the Ombré trend has finally hit makeup! Ombré lips have become quite popular. This fashion-forward look pairs well with bright eye makeup and a subtle application of blush. Personally, I think we are digging this look. What do you think? Do you love this chic lip trend or do you think the Ombré craze has run its course?

History Lesson: The Roaring Twenties!

What was going on in St. Augustine during the twenties, you ask? A whole lot of building! Florida was experiencing an incredible land boom. In St. Augustine, we see the development of Anastasia Island including the construction of Davis Shores, a residential community. It was also during this decade that the Bridge of Lions was built. The bridge was completed in 1927, replacing the wooden, ‘Bridge to Anastasia Island’ or ‘South Beach Railroad Bridge.’ It connected the mainland of downtown St. Augustine to St. Augustine Beach.

Leonard and Ruth were young children during the twenties. The following photos were taken during this period. They show Leonard and Ruth as babies as well as H.M and Mary Tucker, Leonard’s parents, and, Cassie and Gustav Sigwalt, Ruth’s parents.

Which department do you work in?

I work as a photographer out of the Orlando Studio.

What are some of your daily tasks?

It depends on the season, but for the most part is setting up and breaking down photographic equipment, capturing images of students from PK to High School seniors, public relations and customer service with school personnel and parents at the schools, and anything else needed to ensure a pleasant experience for each and every one of our clients.

Here at Leonard’s we capture memories! What is one memory you are glad you captured through photography?

It will have to be the birth of my two beautiful kids Kayra and Jon Anthony.

What are three words that best describe you?

Some people consider me to be funny, helpful and friendly.

Do you have any special talents?

I love photography and I dabble a little bit in painting and drawing.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I would love to learn to fly airplanes.

If you could meet anyone, living or deceased, who would it be?

Steve Jobs to pick his genius brain.

What is the best part of waking up?

The best part of waking up is knowing that I have a supportive family that loves me and drives me to be a better man everyday.

Is a picture worth a thousand words?

Most definitely! There’s no words to describe a beautiful photograph that tells a story and makes us think about our own existence.

Employee Spotlight: Getting to Know the Leonard’s Team!

A little while back, I was very fortunate to be able to sit down and interview the wonderful Debora Brown! She has a more behind the scenes job than the rest of our Customer Service Department. Regardless, she still plays a significant role in the overall Leonard’s team as the right-hand woman to our Treasurer. We are so lucky to have her! Check out the full interview!

  What is your name?

Debora Brown

Which department do you work in?

I’m in a department all by myself!  I’m the bookkeeper.

How do you contribute to our customer service team?

I communicate with schools if they have a question concerning financials. However, I’m more “behind the scenes.”

Here at Leonard’s we capture memories! What is one memory you are glad you captured through photography?

Every memory is precious, and it’s hard to pick just one.  I’m glad I have photos of our wedding day (16 years ago).  It’s nice to look back and see all of our family and friends who shared our special day with us.  And then of course 7/28/08…the day our son became part of our family.

What are three words that best describe you?

Dependable, trustworthy, family-oriented

Do you have any special talents?

Not too many people know that I have a cosmetology license, but I think I’m pretty creative and would like to write children’s books, one day…

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Dance, since it is definitely NOT a special talent that I possess!

If you could meet anyone, living or deceased, who would it be?

Johnny Gruelle

What is the best part of waking up?

Coffee and spending as much time with my family as possible

Is a picture worth a thousand words?

Yes, because no matter when the photo was taken, you can always go back to that special time in your life and smile!  (Or make fun of the goofy hairstyles and clothes they are wearing!)

Love it or Leave it: Chunky Necklaces

As many of you know bib necklaces and chunky necklaces took fall by storm this year. And with good reason! Every so often you want to go for that statement piece of jewelry and chunky jewels and gems can add some pizzazz to any look. A chunky necklace can potentially be the cherry on top of a great outfit! However, let’s not overdo it! These necklaces are supposed to make your look super chic and classy. There are definitely some that make me question. So, what do you think? Do you love these necklaces or do you think we should kick ‘em to the curb?

Leonard’s Style Report: Tomboy Chic!

This season we have seen a whole new twist on menswear for women. Sharp menswear tailoring has collided with playful and funky prints to create what we like to call tomboy chic. One of the best examples of this trend would have to the collaboration of Topshop and J. W Anderson’s collection. The pieces from this line transcend any seasonal trend. Printed pants, tops, pleated skirts, and graphic knits can be worn all year. We just love this style! What do you think?

Weekly Recap!

Happy Friday! We hope your week went well! Things are winding down here in the main office. We are all finishing up the season and preparing for our holiday break. Each year, Leonard’s takes holiday photos of all of the employees and their families. It is probably one of my favorite events of the year! We always have such an awesome time. It was no surprise that I was called upon for the very special task of decorating the holiday tree at the studio! I have truly become the Leonard’s Holiday Elf! It’s great! My goal for next year is it to get a photo of our entire staff! Wouldn’t that be awesome?!

We hope you all enjoy your weekend! It is going to be quite chilly! Regardless of the weather, get out there and take some photos!
