Senior Spotlight: Di Li

Leonard’s Photography is proud to announce the first Senior Spotlight of the Class of 2013: Di Li of Spoto High School! This upcoming spring, Di will be graduating with honors. She is currently a member of the National Honor Society. She was on the tennis team, has participated in musicals and talent shows, and has volunteered for the Reading Carnival held by her high school.

Di speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. In fact, the experiences she had in China before coming to the U.S are unique experiences she brings to her studies. Her geography teacher in China inspired her to think critically and creatively, something she contributes to her education today. Di says the most challenging undertaking thus far has been adapting in the U.S. “I have persevered by working hard in school and keeping a positive and open heart,” Di says.

Di is also active in her community. She regularly volunteers at her local library to help promote reading among school children. She also recently participated in the USF Startalk Program which was an intensive Chinese Language program designed for non-native learners of Chinese. Her role in this program was to serve as a peer mentor. This program allowed her to become more culturally tolerant and to improve her communication skills. Aside from her community service, Di has worked as a babysitter and it has helped her learn patience and responsibility

Upon graduation, Di will be attending college. She will be applying to UF, USF and other schools in the state of Florida. She plans to focus her studies on engineering. Ultimately, she is looking forward to experiencing the challenges that college will bring. When asked if a picture was worth a thousand words she answered, “Yes, I love photography because it can tell stories, show emotion and express who you are.” She is a bright student with an awesome sense of humor. We wish her the best of luck during her senior year! We know she will go very far!

Congrats Di!! Check out some of her awesome photos!
